futon vs sofa bed?

In your opinions what is better a sofa/hidabed or a futon? BTW is it hide-a-bed, hidabed, or hide-away-bed?

It would be for an apartment. It seems like a sofa bed is more comfortable when its in its "sofa" position, but it takes longer to get the bed ready.

It seems that with futons they are easier to fold down into a bed but sitting up on them may not be that comfortable.

I had a futon and hated it b/c it was soooo uncomfortable to sit on. Sofa beds have their down sides too though like the fact that they usually weigh a ton (bad for moving/rearranging) and they usually cost a good bit more than a futon.

If it's going to be in your living room and the main thing that you sit on all the time, I wouldn't go with a futon. But, if it's going to be in an extra room and only used on occasion, a futon might be ok.

What is more durable for a futon, wood or metal frame?

wood because i got a metal frame and it is so uncomfortable i wish i never bought it.
