Just curious because my brother is around 300 pounds, maybe more and he'll be staying with us for a little while. So any answers?
Does your futon lie directly on the floor? If so, the weight limit is the same as that of the floor in your house or apartment. Since your brother does not plunge through the floor when he walks on it, he will not have trouble on the futon.
If the futon is in a wood or metal frame, then it's load bearing capacity will be determined by the strength of the materials and the manner in which they are joined together. A welded steel frame will support a much larger relative than a fiber-board construction frame that has only been glued together. If you remember where you got the futon frame, call the store and ask if they know the answer. If you can tell who manufactured the frame, call them instead as they are more likely to know the correct answer. Good luck!

I don't like anything about the big picture on this website. The color of the carpeting, the curtains, the white walls and the art work ALL do NOTHING to accent the furniture. The room has no warmth or coziness nor is it sleek and sophisticated. With the color of the couches, this room should be done in all warm earth tones.

Neither. Try doing warm taupe walls with Black accents (Black Roman Blinds, Black Iron Decorations, your black furniture) and then that zebra rug, with classy, not cheesy leopard print pillows on the sofa. It's romantic, classy, yet fun with the animal prints. Creates a soothing atmosphere.

I am sick of my futon and I want to transform it visually and functionally into a sofa. I recently purchased a slipcover for a sofa and I am trying to figure out how to construct the arms to be like those of a sofa. I've bought some pillows and duct tape. That should be okay for the arm rest part of the arm, but what do i do with the part of the arm that would be along the back of the sofa… crap that doesn't make sense. Okay if the sofa arm was your arm, I think I'm okay with the forearm part of it, but the upper arm has me stumped. how do i build "biceps" on my soon-to-be sofa? It doesn't have to be pretty because it will be under a slip cover.
Please let me know if you've done this before or if you have any ideas.

Go to the fabric store and buy pillow rolls. They come in 3-4 different sizes so you have to know how long you need. But, they are round and long and the firm ones would make good "biceps" for your futon conversion to a sofa.
