How To Select The Right Futon

Posted under futons

Futons can double as couches, and originated in Asia. They are very popular now in the USA. If you are interested in buying one, then you must first decide it you plan to use it as a bed, a couch, or maybe even both. Here’s five quick tips to buying the right one for you:

1) Get a futon with a mattress with a minimum thickness of six inches. Anything less won’t be comfortable.

2) If you don’t plan on rolling it up, buy the heaviest mattress possible. An all cotton mattress works well. If you do plan on moving it around, get one made with cotton and foam. A cotton/polyester one is even lighter.

3) Try it out first. Don’t be afraid to lay down and spread out to make sure its comfortable enough for you.

4) Make sure the frame has at least five years on the warranty, and is made from southern yellow pine.

5) Decide if you prefer a trifold or a bifold. A bifold is folded once and provides more seat room.

Why a Foam Sofa Mattress Could Be Better Than A Traditional Mattress

Posted under sofa futon

The benefit futons have over traditional mattresses are price and elasticity. If you figure how a futon can be used as a sofa or bed with the cost, a traditional mattress simply cannot compare. Add in a good topper or elegant futon cover. Futons are much more affordable than traditional mattresses. Another benefit of a futon is that you can use many different coverings for various looks. You can instantly change the decor of your room. You can also select from various futon bed frames. You could choose the more normal designs with armrests. This can free up some space too. You can even get an environmentally friendly natural sofa futon. With all the concerns in our environment, you might be interested in the toxicity of your mattress material. Many futons are made with plain materials and can also be made with natural fibers or as organic futons. More traditional mattresses can cost much more. Think of all the stuff you are breathing in every night as you lay there. Sometimes the odor is not that offensive so you may not even know it is there. Other times, the odor is very obvious and you know that you are inhaling those off gassing products.
