sofa futon
I just returned a sofa and loveseat to my local furniture store because the delivery people couldn't get them into our family room. The store says they don't have any sofas small enough to fit through my narrow doorways. They recommended I get a futon, but that's really not my style. I would like something more formal. Any suggestions?
I think you have to locate some period furniture that fits into the dame age as the doorway.
Try one of those World Market too. Some foreign stuff might just suit your style. You have to innovate to make it look good.
A last suggestion is for one that can be assembled inside your house.
Or a custom built one.

I have a traditional wooden futon - couch type that folds down to a bed. The old mattress had to be thrown out, and I need a new one. Can an IKEA futon mattress be used on a traditional futon (not from IKEA)? Will there be any trouble with sofa folding vs. using as a bed? Does anyone have any suggestions on which futon mattress is best?
I don't see why not. Take measurements of length and thickness.
Don't know about futon quality..Never had one.
Big help hey …..

sofa futon
I have a wood futon that folds into a loveseat-type sofa when closed, but the mattress on top doesn't fold in half, it folds into 3! Any idea where I can find one similar cause I need a new one. Oh, and the futon was bought from someone who doesn't know either. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Jackie,
It seems the Japanese put their futons away each, and a tri-fold futon is easier to put in the closet daily.
That being said, an American web site that might be able to help you is:

Good luck, hope you can find what you need.

Okay any ideas on what type of sofa I could possibly buy to fit into my new home. My doorway is narrow. It measure approx. 28" across and 67" for height. Only thing I could come up with were this: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5391312 or something from Ikea or maybe a futon.
Serious Inquiries Only
I saw a show on tv where they had furniture made for apartment living that all came in pieces so it was easy to transport…. I haven't found that site, but here are some…the one I am thinking of even had storage built in beneath seats of chairs and in ottomans.
I had to cut off the legs of my sofa once, and we put in big two way screws…on into the sofa, and drilled a hole so we could screw the legs back on….the sofa still lasted another 10 years.
