The benefit futons have over traditional mattresses are price and elasticity. If you figure how a futon can be used as a sofa or bed with the cost, a traditional mattress simply cannot compare. Add in a good topper or elegant futon cover. Futons are much more affordable than traditional mattresses. Another benefit of a futon is that you can use many different coverings for various looks. You can instantly change the decor of your room. You can also select from various futon bed frames. You could choose the more normal designs with armrests. This can free up some space too. You can even get an environmentally friendly natural sofa futon. With all the concerns in our environment, you might be interested in the toxicity of your mattress material. Many futons are made with plain materials and can also be made with natural fibers or as organic futons. More traditional mattresses can cost much more. Think of all the stuff you are breathing in every night as you lay there. Sometimes the odor is not that offensive so you may not even know it is there. Q: What furniture would go well with a futon?
A: A futon has contemporary lines. You can, however, disguise it to look more vintage. Here is how. The first step is to begin with vintage fabrics for your throw pillows. Then go to a flea market and/or consignment shops to look for some old furniture, vintage lamps, pottery, drapes, and related. You can use a chest for a coffee table. Then look for a collection of milk glass or depression glass for the shelf.
Now for the furniture. Try spray painting old metal patio coffee and end tables a white color. These are the ones with the leaf or swirly designs. Then, hang a chandelier or wall sconces. Some vintage examples are Cabbage rose print fabrics. — Look for a vintage quilt or even a replica quilt to throw over the back of the futon. Next, you can use a dresser for storage and to place a television on top. Purchase some vintage frames and prints for the walls. Ebay always has some vintage items where you can find plenty of additional ideas. Good luck to you.

If you are wondering what is the difference between a sofa and a futon, it is pretty simple. A sofa is a piece of furniture which is often referred to as a couch. A futon, on the other hand, is a mattress that makes up a Japanese bed. A couch or sofa is an upholstered piece of furniture. It is designed for the comfortable seating of two and sometimes more people. Often, there is an armrest on each side. Sofas are usually placed in the family room, living room, or in a den. They are covered in leather or textiles. The most common sofa is the loveseat.
Japanese futons are flat with a fabric exterior stuffed with a synthetic batting. They are frequently sold in sets. Futons are designed to be placed on tatami flooring. It is very common to fold up futons during the day and store them in the closet. This is to allow the tatami to breathe. It also allows for more flexibility to use the room for other activities during this time. Many Japanese folks beat their futons using a special bamboo tool.

I have beige colored faux leather sofas. There are some dirty spots on it from normal usage. I want them to look new and shiny - what’s the best cleaning method for such sofas? Is there any particular product that works best? Thanks!
The best product is mild detergent like washing up liquid and warm water, when dried buff with furniture polish.I do this to my leather sofas and they come up lovely.
