How To Select The Right Futon

Posted under futons

Futons can double as couches, and originated in Asia. They are very popular now in the USA. If you are interested in buying one, then you must first decide it you plan to use it as a bed, a couch, or maybe even both. Here’s five quick tips to buying the right one for you:

1) Get a futon with a mattress with a minimum thickness of six inches. Anything less won’t be comfortable.

2) If you don’t plan on rolling it up, buy the heaviest mattress possible. An all cotton mattress works well. If you do plan on moving it around, get one made with cotton and foam. A cotton/polyester one is even lighter.

3) Try it out first. Don’t be afraid to lay down and spread out to make sure its comfortable enough for you.

4) Make sure the frame has at least five years on the warranty, and is made from southern yellow pine.

5) Decide if you prefer a trifold or a bifold. A bifold is folded once and provides more seat room.
